Engineers made this camera for underwater exploration. It is also able to stay on for a week and more time. They decided to make the camera because many different cameras for underwater exploration can't stay for too long because they need more batteries to keep staying on.
This is very interesting! Not only because of the power implications, but because they are using a wireless signal to broadcast underwater!

Sending data with sound

Once image data are captured, they are encoded as bits (1s and 0s) and sent to a receiver one bit at a time using a process called underwater backscatter. The receiver transmits sound waves through the water to the camera, which acts as a mirror to reflect those waves. The camera either reflects a wave back to the receiver or changes its mirror to an absorber so that it does not reflect back.

Think this could be adapted to make a short range wireless transmitter for Sea Perch?
i think this is a good idea because half of the ocean is not explored yet.
Good idea so we can know everything about the ocean
