India announced that on April 28th that VPNs will have to log the names of customers, their ip addresses, and many other pieces of information that could be used to personally identify users with them sentencing up to a year in prison for disobeying the order. Furthermore, data centers and cloud service providers will also need to do the same thing and log all of the information they have on their users as a result including "unauthorized access to social media accounts". This law would severely infringe upon security for countless people regardless of where they live and would essentially allow for the Indian government to imprison people for what they say online and track them down from information they have on an online user which is extremely concerning to the anonymity of users..
