A trolley is running out of control down a track. In its path are five people who have been tied to the track by a mad philosopher. Fortunately, you could flip a switch, which will lead the trolley down a different track to safety. Unfortunately, there is a single person tied to that track. Should you flip the switch or do nothing?

What should they do? And why do you feel that way?

I would flip the switch. I would feel there's less blood on my hands if I kill 1 instead of killing 5.

I would flip the switch and kill the one person. Having 1 family being sad that they lost someone would be better than 5 families.

I would not touch the switch. If you were to do that, you WOULD be the reason that person dies. Leaving it alone would not make their deaths your fault. If you switch it you would be going out of your way to kill someone.

I would flip the switch, for while it is true that everyone is equal, the lives of the many outweigh the few. Five lives are more valuable than a singular life. Now, if the one person was, say, a scientist who knows the cure to a plague, and the five people are criminals, then I would not flip the switch.

I wouldn't do nothing. I don't want to go to courts and those kinds of things because I would responsible for that death.

I wouldn't do anything for no one because i don't want to get blamed for someone's death or for being in the other people's side.

I would flip the switch to save the lives of the five people. It's unfortunate that the decision you make will end up in someone's death either way, so it's better that one person dies then a whole group of people. It would also depend on who the person may be, such as if they're a criminal or if they're a parent with children.

To be honest it's a very hard question to answer but i would chose to flip the switch because I rather be responsible of one death than five deaths.

I would flip the switch. While I wouldn't be the one who tied the people down, I would be ridden with guilt if five people died while I stood by and watched. All life is valuable, so allowing five to live while one dies, is a sacrifice I would make.

I would flip the switch killing the one person, because i would feel more at fault with the death of 5 than one, and who knows what those 5 people could do, they might do great things in their lives.

If they are people who I care about and they care about me I wouldn't kill the 5 people but if it's 5 random people and 1 person that I really care about I'd save that one person. Sorry... but if y'all don't like me bye.

There is too many variables to this given question. For starters, it is not said that the lever is at, it could be beside the railroad of 5 people stuck, or beside the 1, the railroad, it is also never said somebody, like a bystander cannot help said people stuck on the railroad, therefore, I can't give this question an answer.

No matter what happens within this scenario, a family or more will lose someone dear to them, this is a moral dilemma. In my mind, I'd rather die to save others than to be saved at the cost of others, The lever will be pulled to sacrifice the one for five.

I'd flip the switch and change tracks because I'd rather kill one single person if I had to instead of 5 people

legally if i were to flip the switch then I would be the reason of a murder therefore i'm committing manslaughter. Which means I'm forced to do nothing.

I would flip the switch and kill the 1 person in order to save the 5 lives, no matter who they are the 5 people's lives are more then one. So even if I was charged guilty for manslaughter I would still do it to save those 5 lives.

No, I wouldn't touch the switch, because I don't want to have blood on my hands. I would leave it to the professionals.

I wouldn't' touch the switch i would walk away so that its not murder on my hands either way. If i walk away i could say it was suicide and i tried. I would feel bad but i wouldn't feel good either way .

I would flip the switch. It is not my responsibility to know if they are bad people. He gave me a choice and I made it. It is not my problem if they are bad people. I would be more at ease to know I only caused one person to die than five. My mental health comes first even though I will never be the same after causing one person to die.

I would flip the switch. Yes that one person will die but I would rather it be one then five. That one person will be known as a hero for saving 5 human lives.

It's hard to choose, but if i was in that situation i wouldn't do anything. I can't flip the switch knowing that i killed a person. Also yes, i would feel bad that 5 died, but like i said i wouldn't want to choose.
