Now for some research! Thank you Jeff for showing me all of these cool project's you're involved with!!
Blitzortung.orgSo, many of you are familiar with the term "blitzkrieg" or "Lightning War" from history class. This website is a network for Lightning and Thunderstorms in Real Time!

*notice how the map also simulates the thunder (growing dark circles) as it travels across the land (at the speed of sound).
LightningMaps.org is an additional service to the main project Blitzortung.org. For general questions about this project and for ordering the necessary hardware have a look at the appropriate documentation, FAQs and instructions before contacting us. Also, the discussion board is a good place for all questions and they will be quickly answered there by us and the participants on most times. Our email address is: mail at lightningmaps.org.
RAMMB/CIRA SLIDER: GOES-16 (East; 75.2W)I'm not sure how to describe this yet...other than it's very cool! It's similar to the other link, in that it is displaying lightning strikes. If I remember correctly, this technology uses the ultraviolet spectrum to detect the lightning strikes from space. (This will also detect cloud to cloud, or heat lightning). LightningMaps uses crowd-sourced ground stations to triangulate the location of the lightning strikes!
